When I was going to set up and try to sell my wares at a craft show, I bought some cell phone charm straps to decorate as an added little bauble that people might pick up. I made an assortment of really nice beaded designs with sterling silver beads, Swarovski crystal colors, little beaded dragonfly charms and other pretty beaded dangle decorations.

Today you don't see many people with charms hanging from their cell phones, so what now?

Then the other day I had this great idea!

I love incense and have several types of incense burners in my home, including bottle incense holders. They came with a large split ring or key chain type ring and a little golden cord that hung on the side. You put the incense stick into the split ring and then insert the stick in the bottle so that the smoke comes out of the top and the ventilation holes.

Over the years the silver split ring had become blackened from the smoke and the little golden cord had become frayed. So I took one of those charms with decorative hanging beads, attached it to a new split ring and look how nice and decorative it looks??!!

Awesome Business Cards

Bead Lovers Korner launched a new website last year, with a new banner and color scheme, but the business cards remained the same old cards. I spent a small fortune on the new website and updated the Etsy Shop and Ebay Store to match the website look, but never updated the business cards. Silly huh?

It was just too easy to hit reorder and keep using the same old cards. Not being a graphic designer (I only know enough to be dangerous) attempting to update the business cards was something I needed to have done by a professional.

Procrastination could have been my middle name, because I just kept reordering the same old business cards.

An Exclusive Group Representing Artisans at Hollywood's Best Celebrity Gift Lounges

This year I was accepted into The Artisan Group and will be participating in a few events, sending my business card out into influential circles of people. I wanted my cards to match the new web design and really make an impact so that if a celebrity or their assistant happened to see my card they might take notice and not just throw it in the trash.

I finally broke down and hired a friend who is a Professional Graphic Artist.

Jennifer Remias and I worked together for many years at a Catalog Publishing business, she was the Senior Graphic Designer and very talented in her trade. I contacted her to see if she would help me with the update to my cards. I think Jenn did an awesome job with the design of these NEW cards and they will be rolling out this summer!

Making it to the Etsy Front Page

I have been on Etsy for about two years and finally made the front page on August 1st, thanks to the lovely treasury made by Fiona from Bellecardsandgifts. It was a wonderful thing, lots of views for my shop, but nothing magical happened nor did money fall from the sky in a windfall.

Since the moment I opened Bead Lovers Korner shop on etsy, I have been trying to figure out ways to improve traffic and get noticed. How to make the front page, how to become a featured seller, etc, etc. Increased views, in my thinking, meant increased sales and more income. Over this time period I have learned a lot more about how to take pictures that might possibly be selected for more treasuries, making front page chances higher, but more importantly that translate into sales!

You're No Fool! Celebrating Life

Happy April 1st! I am holding this Giveaway in honor of this day and Celebrating Life! What do I mean by celebrating life? Read the short story below to find out why and don't forget to enter the Giveaway!!

The Reason for Celebrating Life 

On April 1, 1978 a very good friend was getting married and I went to the wedding with a group of friends. We were all still in High School but my boyfriend had a car so we piled into his vehicle and he drove. After the ceremony, being kids, we wanted to soap up the Groom's car with "Just Married" and all that stuff. Well, the groom had hidden his car so that just that thing didn't happen. We were determined and found out where they were staying that night, drove there and did our silly soaping, laughing hysterically and having a great time!!

Now that we were done, we all decided to go have some Pizza before calling it a night. It was late, but we knew a local Pizza Place that was open and headed in that direction as we laughed and carried on. Then in an instant, in the darkness of the night, our lives were changed and nearly over. We were struck by an oncoming vehicle and I can only relay these details as they were told to me since it was the passenger side right behind me that was impacted and I was knocked out cold. The car was totaled and a bloody mess, I was hit in the head and the fellow behind me had nearly every bone broken... a phone call was made to my mother that night telling her that if she didn't rush to the hospital I might not make it. Can you imagine how that would be if it were your child? I totally lost about 3 weeks of my life as I do not remember anything at all until one day when I just "woke up". The other passengers had whiplash, cuts, bruises and I am not really sure what else, but the two of us on the passenger side had the worst of  the injuries. In fact, I was picking glass out of my head for the next year!!

Everyone survived and was able to fully recover, but this day will always hold another meaning to me and not be just a day of practical jokes.
