This last weekend I attended the Florida Market Days Fundraiser and Holiday Party at the Florida Agricultural Museum in Palm Coast, Florida. This was a wonderful and fun event that featured many Florida Etsy Street Team members. Our Team Captain Rose and other members did a terrific job of organizing and coordinating this event, and it was held in a spectacular rural setting at the Agricultural Museum, which is rich with Florida History.

The Museum is a fully restored pioneer homestead from the 1890s with farm animals, hayride tour, and a wealth of historical information of the early days in Florida.

Frosty the Snowman

The weather was good on Sunday and the atmosphere was full of winter holiday fun, complete with Frosty the Snowman blowing snow to greet you at the barn door!

Santa and Mrs. Claus

And of course Santa and Mrs. Claus were there to see all of the kids, both big and small, to find out if you were good or bad and what you wanted for Christmas!

Florida Etsy Streat Team Members were among many crafters that attended to display and sell their art and Holiday creations.

Santa's Elves drawing numbers for the Raffle

Along with Shopping for gifts and visiting with Santa Claus, there were Raffle Drawings held every hour for prizes that were donated by the FEST team members from all over the state.

Team members also sent in samples, business cards and discount coupons that filled the SWAG bags that were given out to everyone who attended.

Face Painting

There was an area just for kids with different games to play and other fun activities including face painting by Santa's Elves!!

Fun Holiday Games

Holiday realated games included ring toss and bean bag toss! They were not so easy, actually, but lots of fun!!

Crafts for Kids

A craft table was set up for children to make crafts or cards, and Etsy Team members were available to assist the youngsters and encourage them with their handmade creations.

Happy 4th of July!! The unanimous Declaration of the thirteen (now fifty) United States of America. Standing up for their rights and declaring independence from Great Britain!

"We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that the are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the prusuit of Happiness."

235 years later we celebrate with cookouts - hamburgers, hot dogs, homemade ice cream, parades, festivals and all sorts of outdoor activities. If it is too hot outside then you can probably go in and watch "Jaws" or "Independence Day" on the TV.

Now that the kids are all grown and doing other things, for this year I think we will relax with the TV, and I will eat a vegetarian burger! Maybe some Apple Pie and Ice Cream!

Amendment 4 has been in the news a lot recently due to the extreme searches performed by TSA when preparing to board an airplane. What is your opinion on the rigmarole we have to go through? Do you think it is unreasonable to have your hair spray or mouthwash taken away? Do you know what happens to it after it is seized? Why not profile people and let the citizens of the USA travel without all this hassle? These rights would not apply to those fit the profiles.

Happy Memorial Day - Honoring this Day with Beads!

I decided to look up some info about Memorial Day for this post, and I really don't recall learning this tidbit of info in school. This holiday began after the Civil War and was originally called Decoration Day, started by freedmen (former slaves) to honor the Union soldiers who died in the Civil War. After World War I it included all Military Soldiers who died while in service to the country.

 Today a lot of people have the day off from work, go to the beach, the lake, have a cook out, drink beer and visit with family. There are various memorial services held by VFW or other organizations, and some people just go to the cemetary and put flowers on loved ones graves.

This is my remembrance of those fallen in battle: Union Soldiers, all Military who have paid the price of freedom here in the United States of America!
